Company History
Paul Moeller & Company (Pty) Ltd, (PMC) was established in 1963 in Cape Town, South Africa as a subsidiary of a well-known export company in Germany supplying the footwear industry with machinery.
After the death of the majority shareholder in Germany in 1972, it became a wholly owned South African Company.
From humble beginnings in a one-room office on the Foreshore in Cape Town the PMC Group today employs 220 staff in 10 different companies based in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban.
Although the Group traditionally supplied the manufacturers in the Shoe Industry, it has become renowned not only for the supply and service to this industry but because of synergy effects and their vast experience and technical know how it has created a substantial customer base in the Automotive Industry, Corrugated/Carton Packaging and Printing industry as well as the Luggage and Furniture Industry.
The Group grew conservatively and branched out into manufacturing of various shoe components:
John Whittle Components in Cape Town and Pinetown. Manufacture of unit soles in PVC/TR, as well as heels and top pieces.
Plasto Plant Manufacturing in Pinetown. Manufacturing unit soles from polyurethane material.
PMC Last Models in Pinetown. Manufacture, sample and bulk lasts.
PMC Sewing Systems in Pinetown. Manufacture of woven and embossed labels for the clothing and footwear industry.
PMC is proud to be associated as a representative of many different machine and consumable manufacturers from various countries across the world. The head-office is now situated in the industrial area of Westmead outside Pinetown in Kwa-Zulu Natal and independent offices operate in Johannesburg and Cape Town. Exports into Africa are handled through the Pinetown office.
